Already during my studies, I started my career as SW engineer, developing software for dental labs in Germany, later calculation software for facility management firms. For my next challenge I was working for a large IT service provider for banks in Germany. I was managing a large-scale Y2K project which transformed within 9 months around 175 banks and their affiliates on a new Y2K capable banking platform, implementing 45'00 devices and related SW.
Then I moved to Switzerland and started to work in my first CIO role for one of the most famous manufacturers for dental implants. I had the great opportunity to define a global IT strategy from scratch and drove its implementation over the next 6 years, including datacentre build-ups, local and wide area networks, collaboration solutions. On this basis we finally implemented ERP, CRM, PLM and HCM solutions based on SAP ECC 6.
Afterwards I changed the industry towards automotive, starting with the largest 2nd tier supplier for electro motors, then to two companies for agriculture machinery and commercial vehicles. In all those assignments the focus was on the one hand on large scale infrastructure projects in China, India and Australia with joint ventures. On the other hand, big ERP implementations and consolidations based on SAP software especially for manufacturing and supply chain functions was the focus of my work.
Changing back to the dental industry, I worked for a global Japanese manufacturer. I supported the company in laying the ground for a robust and secure IT infrastructure on a global basis, migrated towards cloud-based collaboration solutions to downscale or eliminate insecure on premises operations. Once this was done a global business transformation program was designed and imitated by me with the goal to harmonise and standardise global master data and business processes towards industry best practises. Within this initiative several isolated, expensive SAP instances were migrated to one global S/4 Hana instance operated in the HEC (Hana Enterprise Cloud), meeting GxP regulations.
Now I plan to work as self-employed consultant and interim manager for companies, which want to go the way of a digital transformation and are in need for someone who knows the pitfalls and has the experience to make such complex journeys successful.
